Google Meet Settings

We are looking to ensure that we have control of all Meet links that we have created. Deleting them from your calendar DOES NOT NECESSARILY BREAK THE LINK.

Here are screencasts on the various scenarios of Google Meet links.

Reusable Google Meet link

If you are reusing a link over and over again, turn off that Quick Access and they will only be able to access when you allow them in.

Google Classroom - Google Meet link

If you use the Google Meet link associated with a Google Classroom, watch this brief screencast and check your settings.

Some teachers report that if they are the last to leave the Meet and they go into the Settings and turn off the visibility, the link is unavailable.

Some teachers report that if you stay on the link for 1-2 minutes after the kids leave. Then leave. Wait 1-2 minutes and then turn off the visibility of the link.

"Nicknamed" meetings do not save the Quick Access setting. It's settings are not "sticky" as Google calls it. Each time you access this meeting, it will get a different link. Here is an example -Nickname screencast. No students will be able to access a "nicknamed" meet link unless the Host is already in the meeting. The Host must always be the last to leave the link.

Attendance Reports

Want to know if anyone is using your link without you? You should be in each attendance meeting report, if you are not... students may have accessed without you.

Search for this email for meetings-noreply@google.com Google will automatically generate the report when 5 or more attend a given meet link. Here is a screencast about the attendance report and what to look for to determine if your link was used without you.
